MuKn Studios (pronounced “moon”) is where the Web3 Enabler story began. Short for Mutual Knowledge, the name MuKn reflects the studio’s commitment to building protocols and tools that enable secure, shared understanding in decentralized systems. With “Mu” from “mutual” and “Kn” from “knowledge” (with a silent “k” like in the word itself), MuKn has carved out a reputation for developing elegant, technically rigorous solutions in the Web3 space.
“Hi. I’m Alex Hochberger, founder and CEO of Web3 Enabler. Web3 Enabler began as a project inside MuKn Studios. The culture of deep technical rigor and practical innovation made it the perfect launchpad for our vision. In late 2023, we spun out into our own company—but the foundations built at MuKn continue to shape our thinking, our architecture, and our commitment to real-world blockchain adoption.”
From Incubation to Independence
Web3 Enabler was initially incubated within MuKn as an internal project exploring blockchain integrations for enterprise platforms. As interest grew from clients in the Salesforce ecosystem and beyond, it became clear that the project required a dedicated team and brand. In late 2023, Web3 Enabler spun out as MuKn’s second official venture-backed startup, following in the footsteps of Formal Foundry.
That transition from internal R&D to external execution was made possible by MuKn’s unique culture—a balance of deep cryptographic insight and practical application. The spinout preserved that DNA while building an independent path focused on scalable blockchain infrastructure for real-world business use cases.
Partners Who Still Power Our Mission
While Web3 Enabler now operates as a separate entity, we remain deeply connected to MuKn’s leadership and community. Peter Hubshman, MuKn’s CFO, continues to support Web3 Enabler through its financial and operational milestones. Alexander Smart, MuKn’s Chairman, serves as Web3 Enabler’s General Counsel, ensuring continuity and legal excellence at every step of our growth.
And although Gauthier Lamothe now leads another MuKn spin-off, he continues to host Real World Blockchain—a series that explores the practical application of blockchain technology in modern enterprises. This continuity reflects what makes MuKn so unique: it’s not just an innovation lab, but a lasting network of mutual support and aligned values.
From Research to Real-World Tools
Much of the early work inside MuKn Studios focused on designing cryptographically secure data providers and building new types of smart contract programming languages. These efforts weren’t just academic—they were meant to lay the groundwork for practical, reliable systems that real people and businesses could trust. The emphasis was always on correctness, provability, and usability from day one.
This research trajectory directly influenced Web3 Enabler’s mission: to bring blockchain to people who aren’t developers. By building on top of MuKn’s foundational work, Web3 Enabler has developed tools that integrate seamlessly with enterprise platforms like Salesforce—tools that abstract the complexity of blockchain while maintaining the rigor that MuKn helped instill. What began as secure, mathematical infrastructure is now being used in tools that help actual businesses deploy blockchain in the real world.
A Legacy of Secure, Scalable Innovation
MuKn’s contributions to the blockchain ecosystem span protocol design, formal verification, and zero-knowledge cryptography. Their work is guided by a commitment to security-first architecture and mathematically sound principles, ensuring that systems are not only functional, but provably safe. These priorities shaped Web3 Enabler’s early development and continue to guide how we design infrastructure for enterprise clients today.
MuKn’s emphasis on correctness and auditability gave us a powerful head start. We’ve been able to bring secure, scalable products to market faster than we could have independently—and we credit that directly to the technical foundation laid within the MuKn environment.
